Position Description:

The goal of the Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician (MC) is to maintain, troubleshoot and improve all plant electrical/mechanical systems and equipment, such that it performs in a safe, efficient and reliable manner. In addition, the MC is expected to be a key technical resource to the plant maintenance, manufacturing and engineering teams.

 

Key Job Responsibilities & Skills:

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting problems with AC drive systems and PLCs.
  • Properly maintaining a PLC requires the understanding of the wiring schematics.
  • Must be able to interpret and make basic changes to PLC logic via a laptop computer or desktop station using the appropriate communication language.
  • An MC should be able to install and wire an AC drive which requires an understanding of current flow and the theory of operation for the drive. Familiar with 3 phase motors, power, and drives up to 600Hp.
  • Proficient in performing repairs to production equipment and plant utility systems; troubleshooting complex electrical / mechanical components and devices (push buttons, switches, timers, solenoids, electrical disconnects, AC and DC motors); troubleshoot and make basic repairs to variable frequency drives and encoders.
  • Although not required, experience with pipefitting, welding, pump maintenance, and parts fabrication direct from blueprints is desirable.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Programmable logic controllers – PLCs: 3 years (Required)
  • Mechanical knowledge, repair and troubleshooting: 6 years (Required)
  • US work authorization (Required)
  • High school or Technical degree (Preferred)

Starting wage: $28/hr
